Who we are
Genetic Alliance South Africa (GA-SA) is a non-profit, membership organisation uniting patient support groups, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders relevant to the care and prevention of congenital disorders (CDs). GA-SA is both a registered Non Profit Organisation (NPO# 001-029) and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO# 930060116).
Vision:
A united congenital disorders (CDs) community that works towards a South Africa where those affected by CDs can readily access care and support.
Mission:
To unite, support and build capacity in the CD community through advocacy, networking, education, public awareness and research.
Aims and objectives:
- Education and capacity building
Education and increase awareness of CDs among stakeholders to improve diagnosis and care and increase knowledge, skills and competencies of CD civil society. - Advocacy and lobbying
Unite the CD community and lobby for the improvement and funding of CD related services. - Research
Increase the body of evidence used to advocate for CDs, including the development of robust patient registries.
